If there is any change to your circumstances which may affect your liability for Business Rates on the property that you rent, or own, you need to tell us immediately. Examples of these could be:
- a change in occupation
- you wish to change the way you pay the bill
- the property becomes entitled to/ceases to be entitled to an exemption or relief
- the size/area of the property is altered
When you contact us, depending on the nature of the enquiry you could be asked one of many questions.
Generally we need to know your name, an account number, and the address of the property. (If you are not a person liable to pay the Business Rates we cannot give you any specific information about the property, apart from its RV, its description, and the address that shows in the Rating List. However we will still take information from you).
If there is a change affecting your liability for Business Rates we will need to know the exact date that it occurred because this may affect the amount you pay. Business Rates are always calculated on a daily basis.
If you have moved into a property, apart from the date you moved in and your particular details including your former address, we may also need to know the name and forwarding address of the previous occupier if possible. If you are moving out we will need to know the name of the new occupier/purchaser or landlord, and your new address. All of this information will enable us to ensure that bills are issued correctly.
Please contact us if you have any problems or wish to pass on any information.
