South Hams Business Surveys
Regular Business Surveys are undertaken to monitor the performance of the local economy. This allows comparison with regional and national trends and provides evidence for the council to develop strategies Reasons For Location In The South Hams to respond to the district’s particular needs.
Business Surveys Since 2006
For the 2006 business survey South Hams District Council worked in partnership with the other Objective2 designated authorities in Devon and with Devon Renaissance funding assistance. Many of the core questions and subjects from previous South Hams surveys remained while new areas have been also examined.
This approach allows comparison of the South Hams economy with similar areas of rural Devon.
Independent Economic Reports
The Council commissions regular independent economics reports to monitor trends in the local economy. Similar reports are made for Devon County Council and other Devon local authorities allowing comparisons to be made.
