Cultural tourists are a difficult market to define. Many visitors will seek out cultural experiences as part of their visit. Others will make it the central focus. For those dedicated cultural tourists research has suggested the following characteristics:

- Become Film friendly
- Support events - get involved!
- Offer to allow artists temporary use of space to display their work
- Why not have an artist in residence offering workshops, talks and exhibitions
- Commission an artist to design or handfinish bespoke items
