Who are cultural tourists?
Cultural tourists are a difficult market to define. Many visitors will seek out cultural experiences as part of their visit. Others will make it the central focus. For those dedicated cultural tourists research has suggested the following characteristics:
- They stay longer
- They spend more
- They tend to be older
- They are more likely to be women than men
- They are more likely to be highly educated
- They will tend to favour staying in hotel accommodation
Many visitors to the South Hams come specifically to enjoy the heritage and culture of the area either as a primary reason for their visit or as part of the overall holiday experience.
