Since 1989 South Hams Tourism as a service of South Hams District Council has adopted a strategic approach towards the tourism marketing of the area in recognition of its importance to business. This approach has aimed to balance the needs of the local communities and the protection of the very special and beautiful environment with the generation of economic activity through tourism.
