The Economic Development Office of South Hams District Council works to achieve local economic development at both district and strategic levels.

Partnership working with neighbouring local authorities, Devon County Council, the South West of England Regional Development Agency, Government Office for the South West, business organizations and business representatives supports the Council's work to deliver a range of district wide priorities, including to "create the conditions for the growth and maintenance of quality economic activity".

Business advice within the district is provided through Enterprise South Devon (ESD) - the local enterprise agency that is part funded by the council. ESD are managing a new project to support disabled entrepreneurs to establish businesses.
