Make a payment of Council Tax
You can pay your Council Tax by many methods but the easiest way to pay regularly is by monthly Direct Debit.
Make sure you have your Council Tax account number to hand when you want to make a payment. You'll find that on your bill.

Pay by Direct Debit
Save yourself time and money by paying by Direct Debit, this is also our preferred method of receiving your payments as it is the most cost effective method of collection.
Please telephone us on 01803 863414 and our Customer Services Team will be able to set one up for you over the telephone. We can offer you a choice of payment dates:
- 1st of the month
- 15th of the month
- 28th of the month

Please note that an additional charge of 1.5% will be payable on all credit card transactions.

You must quote these details when making the payment. Your reference number for the payment will be your Council Tax account number.
A fee may be chargeable for each transaction and you should check this before you make your payment
Pay in person
The council accepts payments at the cash office at Follaton House, Totnes from Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm.

Do not send cash through the post. A receipt will not be issued unless a stamped addressed envelope is supplied.
