In view of
recent statements by the Prime Minister regarding emissions causing climate change, and
the fact that now the majority of gas used in the country is imported is it not now time
for the Secretary of State to revisit his decision to allow a gas fired power station to
be built in the South Hams.
We therefore
ask that the Council support writing to the Secretary of State to request that this
decision be re-considered with the suggestion that the project cost of £600m be better
spent on developing power generation from renewable sources.
